“Soul Comes True by Night” & “Love is Devotion” 透過創意編碼,拓展創作的可能性

Creative coding(創意編碼)是一種結合編程和藝術創作的實踐方式。它強調使用編程技術來生成視覺、聲音、動畫或互動藝術作品,以探索新的創意表達方式。這種方法不僅關注代碼的功能性,還強調代碼本身的美學和創意潛力,他的表現形式將包含:視覺、聲音、互動、數據,並秉持開源的共享與合作精神。

創意編碼的實踐者可能使用不同的編程語言和工具,如 Processing、OpenFrameworks、p5.js、Max/MSP等,這些工具和框架旨在簡化複雜的技術細節,使藝術家能夠更專注於創意的實現。總的來說,創意編碼是一個將代碼視為藝術媒介的藝術形式,促進了技術和藝術之間的交叉合作。

“Soul Comes True by Night” & “Love is Devotion” 是兩件我透過 p5.js 語言創作的創意編碼。 “Soul Comes True by Night” 可藉由移動滑鼠 (請點選作品連結) 感受日夜、顏色的變化,亦在表達人在日夜內在靈魂的虛實。 “Love is Devotion” 則是透過動態過程,演進人類「愛」的建構,而「愛」最終濃厚成為「奉獻」的本質。

Creative coding is a practice that combines programming and artistic creation. It emphasizes using programming techniques to generate visual, auditory, animated, or interactive artistic works, exploring new ways of creative expression. This approach not only focuses on the functionality of the code but also emphasizes the aesthetics and creative potential inherent in the code itself. Its manifestations include visual elements, sound, interaction, and data, all while embracing the spirit of open-source sharing and collaboration.

Practitioners of creative coding may utilize various programming languages and tools, such as Processing, OpenFrameworks, p5.js, Max/MSP, etc. These tools and frameworks are designed to simplify the complexities of technical details, allowing artists to concentrate more on the creative realization. In essence, creative coding is an art form that regards code as a medium of art, fostering collaboration and cross-disciplinary work between technology and art.

"Soul Comes True by Night" and "Love is Devotion" are two pieces of creative coding I created using the p5.js language. "Soul Comes True by Night" allows users to experience the changing colors and day-night transitions by moving the mouse (please click on the artwork link). It expresses the virtual and real aspects of the soul within the day-night cycle. On the other hand, "Love is Devotion" evolves the construction of human "love" through dynamic processes, ultimately highlighting the essence of "devotion" as it intensifies.

圍籬計劃 The Fence Project

居住正義,透過圍籬參與對話,建立新關係

這是我的碩士畢業製作,以台科大設計系學生角色,關注學校欲徵收鄰近社區「蟾蜍山聚落」為校地的居住正義事件。

我在 2015 至 2018 年間獨自深入聚落及學校運作體系中進行田野研究與建立關係,試圖找出雙方矛盾不解的原因。在進行田野活動時,我發現一項重要的因素-「關係」。學校與聚落的關係、學校與我的關係、聚落與我的關係、聚落居民之間的關係、學校內部角色間的關係等。「關係」建構了人與人之間許多複雜的看法、意識型態、小團體、對立事件、意向改變、甚至能和解。

透過「建立衝突者之間的關係」為創作核心,我在聚落與校園公共空間各放了一座圍籬牆,隱喻聚落中被學校架起圍籬的土地,它是跑馬燈裝置,使雙方能夠透過這個裝置展開兩地的文字對話,將真實的心聲獻予對方,站在彼此角度思考問題,而非執著或持續誤解。

The Fence Project  uses Taipei’s Toad Hill settlement as a base for design creation, and interacted with locals in the settlement during a three-year field survey, gradually converging perspectives and using in-depth interviews to develop the work’s theme – “invite residents to engage in dialogue with students, communicate campus disputes, and establish new relations between the school and settlement” into The Fence Project.  The work interacted with participants over the course of nearly three weeks, and reshaped the knowledge of new relationships between the two places.

失落味蕾:The Lost of Taste Buds

虛構混血料理體驗,重新認知食物與土地情感的連結

外國食物在台灣很多夜市或餐廳可以被看見,許多台味的食物在國外也容易找尋。食物的全球化讓「混血料理」成為常態,例如:珍珠奶茶湯底的日式拉麵、鋪上臺灣鹹鴨蛋的披薩。但享用食物與料理時的喜悅與滿足究竟是什麼?

作品以手作結合視覺攝影,將看似真實,細看卻詭譎的混血料理為呈現,例如:台式肉燥沾醬的薯條、沾上榛果巧克力醬的豬血糕、小熊軟糖取代珍珠的珍珠奶茶、放上台式湯圓的軍艦壽司。現今我們必然深信這些看似真實,但又荒謬至極的料理不會出現在餐桌,但透過這個極具真實感受的非真實物件,以及虛構感強烈的色彩與攝影,觀者或實際試吃的民眾能夠被跳脫出僵化的世界,思考關於混血料理背後的心理剝奪感受。

The work shows various seemingly realistic, but in fact strange international cuisine, such as Gunkan-Maki with Taiwanese glutinous rice balls on the top. At present, we certainly believe that these seemingly realistic, but absurd cuisines will not be on the table. However, through the virtual object with strong realistic perception and significant fictional color and photography, the audiences or people who taste it might break through the rigid world, ponder on the deprivation behind the creative food and lead to discussion.
